The Only Road

Everyday, students and teachers must travel through this rough road, the only road, to reach Imani School.

As shown in this video, the path is narrow and uneven which makes it difficult to pass. For many families, reaching the school is already a challenge before classes even begin.

The road leading to Imani is not in good condition. In several areas the surface is very rough and the few vehicles that exist must move slowly to avoid damaging their tires.

Ninty-eight percent of students walk.

Rainy Season

During the rainy season , the situation becomes worse as mud and water make the road slippery and harder to pass.

When it rains, over 30% of students ages 3-5 cannot come to school.

What should be a simple trip to school can turn into a tiring and sometimes unsafe journey.

Access to Education

Access to education should not be limited by the condition of a road. But it is.

Improving the road to Imani School would make it easier and safer for students, teachers, and parents who rely on it everyday. But there are greater needs - food and textbooks.

So the road will not be fixed today.

This is just one of the many obstecles our students and teachers overcome everyday to try and live a better life.
